Introduction

Welcome. These pages explain the tvbeat dashboard: what each tool is for, how to use it, and the habits that make the numbers easy to trust.

Two kinds of documentation

These pages describe the platform — the tools, and how they behave for everyone. Anything specific to your data — what each dimension means, how your metrics are calculated, which reports were built for you — lives in your own client documentation, reachable as Dataset docs from the ? menu in the dashboard.

What the dashboard is for

tvbeat turns raw viewing and advertising events into numbers you can act on. Broadly you can:

  • Watch how inventory and campaigns are performing — Home, Reports, Campaigns
  • Ask questions of the data — Research, Ranker
  • Take data elsewhere — Exporter

The tools

ToolWhereWhat it does
HomeHomeHeadline numbers for the current month at a glance
ReportsReports (labelled Inventory on some accounts)Prepared dashboards, built for your team and refreshed for you
CampaignsCampaignsDelivery and pacing — and, where enabled, booking new campaigns
Audience managerAudienceBuild and store reusable audience definitions
RankerAudienceFind where an audience over- and under-indexes
ResearchToolsAd-hoc querying, answered in real time
ExporterToolsLarge extracts, prepared in the background

Not every tool is switched on for every account, so your menu may be shorter than this list — and menu names themselves follow your setup, so a heading here may go by a different name on your screen.

Your first 15 minutes

  1. Sign in and bookmark your dashboard address. Signing in covers passwords and two-factor codes.
  2. Find your way around: the navigation bar, the dataset switch and your account menu. Finding your way around takes five minutes.
  3. Run one query in Research: pick a date range and a breakdown, press Submit. Most questions end up there.
  4. Open a report and choose Open in Research on any widget — the quickest route from "a number moved" to "why".

Already familiar with the dashboard? The FAQ collects the questions that come up most.

How these pages are written

  • Words in bold are labels you'll see on screen; words in italics are values you can choose.
  • "Your setup" means the configuration tvbeat has applied to your account. Menus, datasets, terminology and which features are switched on all follow it.
  • The sidebar mirrors the dashboard's own menu, so you can find a page by where its tool lives on screen.
